Korean village

After another day in paradise I came home to my TV tray with a home cooked meal, a good ol' Shiner Bock, and the NY Mets and St. Louis Cardinals playing in the 3rd inning. Can't get much better than this...just wished it was the LA Dodgers playing.

We've got a comfortable home on a comfortable street. Not much traffic, quiet, lots of trees, and nice neighbors. As I was thinking about this nice comfortable place I started thinking about my childhood home. It was nice and comfortable but not too far from us was a little village that had little homes like you see in the picture. I found this picture on the web (forgot to get the info and give credit!) when I was reading some things about what has been going on in North Korea and had to put it in my files. It's a good memory. Well...most of it is. One day we were missing our dog and my dad found it hanging up by a home that looked like this.

South Korea doesn't have villages like this anymore....except for one set up for tourist. They have grown into a very strong modern nation. North Korea is still today very much like the picture you see. The "great leader" spends money on himself and his army while most of the nation lives in poverty. I can't understand what he is trying to protect. Maybe he's just afraid for himself. If the outside world got in...he may not continue as a leader...but other than that, there's nothing there that anyone wants or needs. It's sad to think that a man like that could live with himself knowing that his people are starving and they live in fear. Fear of him I'm sure. Too bad when his dad died (the first "great leader"), he didn't have enough sense to work things out with South Korea.

Anyway, back to baseball. Those dang Cards beat my Mets...Not that I care. I really just want Detroit to beat the Mets in the World Series.
