It's official!

Though we knew this was to happen in January...it has now become official! Coach Gus Hernandez from Tennessee Temple University came up to have Tom sign his letter of intent to play for them this coming fall. It was a great day for Tom, us, and I hope our coaches at Hillwood. From left to right is Becky, behind her is Coach Mells, Tom, Coach Stanislow, me and Coach Hernandez leaning over the table. (I have better pictures, but of course, I sent the wrong ones to my computer here at the house! So this will have to do 'til I get back to NBTA.)

After the signing, Coach Hernandez wanted us to take him to NBTA to see how we train up and coming ball players. I think he was impressed with the facility, but he was really impressed with a "throw-back machine" called Fritz that we have. We have been working with the company that created them for some time now. We are the only ones that actually have a machine (actually two!) in use...but in about a month, there will be about 25 available that we are allowed to sell. After the tour we headed out to Brentwood High School to see Tom and team play.

Coach Hernandez stayed for a few innings and then had to head back to Chattanooga. It was so nice to finally get this done...and it's nice to know that Tom has the opportunity to go to a great school and actually play a little ball too. We pray for him to be focused and ready to work hard the next few years, as well as, have a bit of fun. The Lord has blessed us and we are extremely thankful. We want to thank many of you for your prayers...please don't stop praying! We've got at least four years to go.

Congratulations to Tom! And all best wishes to Mark and Becky! I hope the next four years will be the same "wonderful" string of experiences that the last decade or so has been.

Thanks all! We certainly are proud of Tom and all the hard work he has put into accomplishing this. Our biggest prayer now, is that he will continue to work hard in school, but mostly, that he comes to a place of desiring a deeper relationship with the Lord. We're so glad he will be attending a school that is concerned about his spiritual being, as well as, his education. Thanks again and thanks for praying!

What an amazing journey Tom has taken with you Mark, and of course Becky. I think of all the journey's we must take in this lifetime and no one ever knows how it will all work out. But this journey has had the mighty Hand of God leading the way since the first day you and Tommy played catch together in the yard. It always works according to His will.
I think I know a certain Father who celebrates this day with you brother and He too is smiling and saying "well done...my fathful servant." There are even more journeys to come and I am believing Tom to be faithful, even in the little things as He becomes more than a Son to our Lord, but soon a friend as well. (John 15:13-15)

So nice when dreams can come true. "Well done" to your family for making Tom's dreams come true!!

Looks like I will have to follow the progress of the TN Temple Univ. this fall and coming years. Can't wait.

Thanks Ruth. I just hope Tom is able to play his freshman year! That would be nice...but whether he does or not, I plan on following their progress as they build their program. Should be fun to watch for a few years!
