Fun in the mountains

I received a call on Tuesday night from my son. He was somewhere in the middle of nowhere on Lookout Mountain! His car had died and after finding he had no cell phone service he decided to call 911. Thankfully, it worked! After some time a young man stopped and asked Tom if he needed help. Not only did a wrecker come, but the Lord sent someone that was willing to drive him back to his school...which was about 40 minutes away! He made it back with one minute to spare before his curfew! So why was he up in the mountains late at night all alone? Well, I don't have a picture of her house to add to this post!

Friday I drove down to see what we could do about his Volvo. I already knew the engine was shot (surprised the car lasted as long as it did), so I was just trying to figure out what to do and get all of Tom's stuff out of it. Can I say, going in the daytime was bad enough! I can't imagine how he felt in the dark of the night, being in a strange place with no one around. We're just not country type folks and felt real out of place! After driving through some areas that were a bit uncomfortable, we finally found the wrecker service.

So we got almost everything and headed back to his school going a different route. When we ended up at the interstate...it was stopped traffic! Tom needed to be back at school by 3 and it was getting real close to 2. We were in stop and go traffic for over 30 minutes when we finally got to our first exit, which was still 20 miles away from school! I decided to take it and thankfully, got around the wreck that was on the interstate and we made it back to school with a few minutes to spare! We headed back to Nashville around 5 and I was so glad to have a nice,
uneventful drive back. Tom leaned back and literally slept the whole way home.

So Saturday was spent looking for a new set of wheels. Needing something fairly quick makes it hard to make the best decisions. We found this Mercury Mountaineer, and it was so nice and really at a great price for an older vehicle, we decided this might be safe and of course, not embarrassing for Tom to drive around! So what that it only gets 15 miles to a gallon! The ones that got over 20 were just way to expensive or were so run down that I wouldn't put my worst enemy in them.

So here's mom giving her son a hug before he takes back off to college. Hope he makes it there before his gas runs out! And I hope when he has to find the wrecker service up in the mountains tomorrow to get his license plate off the Volvo, he takes a friend or two with cell phones on different services.

So here's to having kids! It's just money, a little heartache, worry, fear, sadness, loneliness, and a whole lotta love! Glad the Lord protected him and thankful to have him home for the weekend.

I've been to lookout mountain, and it was during a very foggy day. It's amazing we survived without crashing into another. Glad the Lord was watching over me, and Tom. Looks like a cool vehicle for him!!!

What a great opportunity for some rest and peace for a son who is becoming more like his Father. I was hoping to see Tom myself and treat him to a Toffee Nut Latte on Friday night (just like ole times) but sounds like it was an eventful weekend.
Vanderbilt even won in football!!God definitely has His eyes on us Nashvillians, thank you Jesus~
