Thanks to our new employee Nick at NBTA, Becky and I were able to take yesterday off and head down to Chattanooga to see Tom. We got down there early enough to take him to lunch and spend a couple of hours with him before the double header. Cloudy, cold, and a misty rain at times made the 2 games seems a bit long! More than that, we waited to the last inning of the second game to see Tom come in as a pinch hitter. He was so ready to hit and just as fate goes...the pitcher hit him with his first pitch! Oh well...next time! He made it to first and the next batter ended the inning. Tom finished the game playing center field and I have to say it was good to see him smiling and laughing off his moment. Hopefully we'll get one more chance to see him play before the season ends.
The other night my good friend jb called to let me know a friend from Korea was in town. He was meeting him down at the Blackstone and asked me to come and join them. It was great to talk about the old days and hear about things of our youth. Anyway, our friend Fred sent jb a link to an army guy who took a ton of pictures while stationed in Korea. Should you have any desire to see where I grew up...here it is! These are things we saw everyday but never had pictures of! At the bottom of the first page is another photographer who took pictures in 1958-59. Some of those really bring back my memories of my earliest days. What a trip.
