Yes...it was stupid.

This is me around 1975. I took that beautiful 1965 or 66 Gold Top Les Paul Deluxe guitar with me to Korea. Played quite a few gigs with my brothers all over Korea and then when it was time to leave I had to sell it to buy a plane ticket back to Los Angeles.

I think I sold it for around $800.00 which was just enough to get me back to the states. Not a bad price at the time. I think I paid around 5 or 6 hundred for it. So, I used it for a few years and then let it go. Such a freakin' idiot!

If I hadn't sanded off the Gold Top and kept that guitar...I would have a jewel right now. I have seen this same model guitar sell lately for as much as $25,000. Now that would have been a good investment to keep! So you want to hear how really dumb I am? I actually have owned 2 of these guitars...stupid...stupid...stupid.

Stupid? Maybe. In hind-sight. But we do what we think we have to do, when we think we have to do it. What you did served your purposes at the time. But yes, I wish you could be selling that thing NOW!

It's good to see that picture of you with that axe again. Ohh, the memories...
