The Bellevue Mall still looking a bit deserted.

I drove by the other day to see if any work was going on at our old location. Doesn't look like anything is happening yet. Though I'm happy with our new space, I am really missing being so close to home.

Since last year, when the new owners of the Bellevue Mall made the public aware that they were going to purchase the mall, I talked to the guy who was representing the company and asked to be contacted about leasing from them, or at least have their leasing department call me about the possibility of NBTA leasing a space. His response to me and also at our public meeting was, every business that was in the mall at this time would be contacted and given an opportunity to lease from them. More than six months later and now that I'm gone and have signed a three year lease on our new facility, they finally had someone call me...it still wasn't anyone in their leasing department.

It seems a bit strange that I received this call. Why now? Only two reasons come to my mind. They are extremely incompetent in doing their job and returning phone calls/requests like mine, or they are not finding enough businesses to come and replace all of the businesses that had to leave.

Being a Bellevue resident for almost 25 years, I was happy that someone was coming in to rebuild the mall and hopefully, revitalize our community. I was more than willing to move but was hoping for a chance to come back to continue what we started and become a fixture here in my own neighborhood. But now, I know that won't happen...just because I never received a simple phone call.

Bellevue is a great family oriented area. I've enjoyed living here. But the incompetence of government and business and the lack of insight on how communities thrive...it might be time for my family to move out of this area.

I will wait to see what happens to Bellevue in the coming months but I have to admit, it doesn't look that promising.

it is all very sad indeed.... I certainly pray that your future leads to greater satisfaction and happiness.. and that if you and your family have to move, it will be because you want to and not because you feel you have to... my thoughts and prayers are with you...

Wow! 25 years in Bellevue. Isn't that kind of hard to believe? (Maybe not!) As for me, I always thought Bellevue was kind of cool, but it was never my favorite place to live. (Having jb and you there made it okay.) And if you recall, I lived in several places around Nashville. Not that I'm encouraging a "good riddance" to Bellevue. I just think that some communities are better at being actual communities than others. Maybe Bellevue's problem is the simple fact that it IS so family oriented. And families are too distracted by the business of being families to worry about supporting a good mall and "luxury" businesses in the neighborhood. But I could be very wrong!

The family part is great. It's the elected officials that keep screwing up life for the families! Not that we could get away from elected ones if we moved somewhere else, but, there's been an agenda here for way too long and it's kept real businesses that could help our area out of here.

Guess I shouldn't complain. At least I have a home, good neighbors, a Starbucks, and now a Pub that serves Murphy Stout!

Our Starbucks is closing up here in Hopkins, I have no idea who my neighbors are, because you don't do such things as "know your neighbors" here in the big city. However, we do have a great bar that serves Surly Bender on tap!!

If you think you must move, then do so, but if you have great neighbors, then stay. I do miss that when I left my hood.
