Two teams that I work with went to the State finals. Sadly, neither one of them clinched the title...Still, these 9 year olds played some great games over the weekend and we're really proud of them and know they will have another chance in the future. The 10 year old team also lost their last gamesand were ousted out as state champions. They won the state last year as 9 year olds.
After the games last night, I came home to see the remainder of the MLB All-Star game. I thought I might catch the last few innings or so but gladly came home to the longest All-Star game ever. My NL lost again. What is up with that?! The good news is that J.D. Drew (former LA Dodger) won the MVP for the night.
The game ended around 1:30 and I got to stay up to greet my nephew and his dad who drove in from Texas. They made it around 3 this morning! Steve's family are moving here to start working on a new school for missionaries. They have lived in Thailand for the past 15 years and this last year in California to attend a school that they want to pattern their school after. So today...I get to help unload a 24 foot truck packed full of stuff...I'll be seeing my chiropractor tomorrow.
Lastly, I want to wish my brother Don a huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! You'll never be as old as me you punk! How dare you stay so young! Love you brother.

Busy busy! Sorry about the teams, but it sounds like life is good there anyway.
Is the missionary school going to be in Nashville?
Does a missionary school teach the missionary position?
First, why is a former l a dodger getting the MPV...why isn't he a current dodger.... second, lets face it the American League is better than the National League at this point in time and will probably remain so until the rules about the designated hitter change.... I am sorry for the little guys, and know that you have helped them immensely....
I assume Michael that the missionary position is taught. My nephew has 6 kids. It seems to work!
John...you are so correct about the AL having the designator hitting rule... That's why the rest of us know that the NL is the only league that actually plays real baseball and this all-star thing doesn't really matter because the AL doesn't know how to play real baseball. They have to cheat to win!
lol...yes, I do agree with you both, and my team is a AL team, but should do away with the DH. However, these old baseball players need a job somewhere.
:)
Ruth, no they don't, I think they should retire when they cannot play a position.... unfortunately Mark, the all star game does give the winning team home field advantage in the Series.. (in my opinion, that is another not so smart rule)... Of course, all of this stuff is just my opinion and it really doesn't count for much...cheers, john
Opinion counts John! I have to admit...when I read Ruth's line,
"these old baseball players need a job somewhere."
I kind of agree! It is sad when the legs can't run as fast but you still can hit the ball and they decide it's time for you to go. Maybe they can start a new pro-league with players over 40 and drop the designater hitter. I'd pay to see that!
