I was born and raised in South Korea. We grew up with air raid sirens going off monthly to test the capabilities of the armies manuveurs and see how quickly millions of people could vanish into their homes and bomb shelters. It was always a scary feeling even when we knew it was just a test. I remember one night when I was at a friends house in the the middle of Seoul. He lived on top of a mountain looking down into the city. As we heard the sirens we went to his front porch. Within minutes the whole city was completely dark and 13 million people were off the streets as we heard the army take over the entire city. Then spotlights started shinning into the dark sky as they tested their ability to look for enemy war planes. You heard hundreds of soldiers feet pounding the streets in unison and leaders with bullhorns giving orders. It was a feeling that I really don't want to experience again...but I know that one day we probably will....but it won't be a test. It will be real.
Scripture tells us of a day that will happen when all the nations will be at war. With all the leaders that are in power now it seems we may be at the prophecied time. But as history shows us, God doesn't always allow chaos when it seems enevitable. I hope this is one of those times that we see pass as leaders find a way to work things out before one of them takes that major step that will trigger it world wide.
Scripture also teaches us that it doesn't matter which leader is in control of what country...it is God who directs the path of man. It's God who appoints the leaders of the nations, and it will be God who chooses the time when the nations will war or live in peace.
I know this is not what most people believe, or want to believe...most think that man has complete free will to dictate their future. As a believer in God and His son Jesus, and the Scriptures they gave us...I tend to put my faith and belief in what God has provided for us to understand. There is Good News in the wacky ways of man...God saves us! Faith. It's a good thing.
