Now, quite a few more years ago...

Since I have a real ex-Major League Baseball player working at NBTA, the kids assume that I played MLB too. Most of them will ask me who I played for and I have to tell them that I only played through high school. I was offered a scholarship to play college ball, but music took over my life and at the young age of 17 I felt that the rewards were better since the girls seemed to flock toward musicians more than the jocks. Not so sure that's the case these days!

The last picture above is probably the last picture of me in a baseball uniform. As a trainer, all I can say is that this shows horrible form! My hands are wrong, my bats sticking up in the air, and my feet are pointing in the wrong direction. It's probably a good thing I chose music as my career!

Today I celebrate my 52nd birthday and all I can say is that God has blessed me and has given me a good life. As a child I loved baseball and wanted to play in the big leagues when I grew up. But I also loved music. God took me on a journey and allowed me 30 years of performing, writing, producing, traveling with great artists, and then through my sons, brought me back to enjoy my first love as a child. Baseball. These past four years of teaching kids has been an incredible joy and has been extremely fulfilling. To see my son playing college ball is even more rewarding than I could have ever imagined. I have a feeling his life will be the exact opposite of mine. Baseball first and then music! He's got a lot of talent in both areas.

So here's to life. May God continue to move in our hearts and give us purpose and meaning as we walk in His ways. My birthday wish for you is...Dream and live for the glory of God in all you do.

Birthday update: Came home to a Baseball Birthday Apple Pie! I'm not much into cake...so, Becky always makes sure I get my favorite dessert for my birthday. She didn't have a number 5 candle...but I recognized the 2 was right! I also got a great t-bone steak, creamed spinach , fruit bowl...and of course, a good cold beer.

Nothing like a wonderful Apple pie, my favorite as well. But I want to know just how anyone could live to be 52 years young eating creamed spinach, YUCK!!!

I love those pictures, especially that team shot! The simple birthday celebration sounds great, but I have to agree with Pam about the creamed spinach!

I bet you guys like Spinach dip. This is like that...only better. If it tasted like spinach, I wouldn't eat it either!
