Early days in Korea

Everyone in Nashville has heard the name Ezell. Houston Ezell was a developer here and built a ton of houses and buildings scattered all over this area. He was an elder at Otter Creek Church of Christ (maybe Vultee C of C) which was one of the churches that helped support our family when we lived in Korea.

The picture above was probably taken around 1962 or 63 (jb says it was probably around 1960 or 61). Houston Ezell came to Korea after dad had purchased some property for our compound and built four houses for all of our missionary families. After years in the housing we were in, these where the castles of the day. A beautiful setting on the outskirts of Seoul, Korea. The families changed throughout the years but the compound is still there...but now, it looks out over a massive city.
Pictured above are the missionaries that were blessed with the housing provided by the church in America. From left to right are my mom and dad, Haskell and Enid Chesshir, Malcom and Shirley Parsley, Bill and Peggy Richardson, and Bill and Nancy Ramsey.

The view behind them is one that has always been a memory that I cherish. From our compound, we looked over rice paddies to the next mountain where the first World Vision ministry had been built. For you older folks, this is where the World Vision Children's Choir came out of. I'm sure many of you remember them traveling the world singing and raising money to bring hundreds of thousands of kids out of poverty and finding them adoptive families all over the world.

Thanks to jb for sending me these pictures! He found them on a site from another MK that we grew up with.
