It was sad to hear the news today that Les Paul died. He was the one who brought us the electric guitar and helped figure out how to do multi-track recording. Because of him, music changed radically after these great inventions.
In the pictures above show 2 of his guitars. I had two gold top Deluxes (on the right) and my brother Phil had the sunburst standard that Les is playing in the picture. Sadly, both my brother and I are fairly ignorant of things of value. If we owned these guitars now...I could probably pay off most my debt. And I have a pretty hefty debt.
Well, Les Paul gave us great music, a new way to produce it for the masses, and brought the ability to rock as loud as the ear can handle. I took full advantage of volume and now my hearing has decreased just enough to ignore things I don't want to hear!
Rest in peace Mr. Paul. Thank you for all that you did for us. Thank you for giving me an instrument that was able to create incredible sounds, express my emotional state each time I played, and create music. I'll be seeing you on the other side.

Oh my Mark, I wished you had saved those 2 guitars, ouch.
Yes Ruth. Me too. For some reason I decided to abandon my foundation and do what everyone else was doing....which was playing Fender! Not a bad guitar and a great sounding instrument too...but certainly not a Les Paul. Oh well...live and learn.
Do you think your back might be in better shape for having switched from the Les Paul to the Fender? I always heard that the Les Pauls were heavy guitars.
Extremely heavy! and I do think as bad as my back is now...if I had continued to play a Les Paul all those years, I would be in REALLY bad shape!
Thank you God for giving us NBTA, who could use Les Paul' instruments to express his feelings and receive such comfort.
Thanks John. I needed some prayer today!
