Cleveland, TN

We spent yesterday going to the chapel service, having lunch in the cafeteria, and then a meeting with the President of TN Temple and some of the profs and staff. We were pleasantly surprised and much more comfortable about Temple being a possibility for Tom. The president is starting his second year and the changes (as they told us) have been monumental since he has come aboard. We really didn't know alot about this school, just looked at the baseball program and talked a few times with the coach.

Tennessee Temple was a very strict Independent Baptist University until the change a year ago. Female students wore dresses and males had to be in shirts and ties. They've loosened that up! Everyone seems quite comfortable wearing whatever! The chapel service was a very contemporary service with a full band behind the leader. The president spoke and he is full of energy and certainly knows how to relate to college students.

The baseball team had a double header in Cleveland, TN with Cleveland College. We drove about 30 minutes to get there and found a real nice state jr. college. As we were walking in we heard someone address us and I looked over to see one of Tom's friends from his travel team of the past two years. He's a catcher for Cleveland College!

We stayed for part of the first game and then decided to take a drive to see Lee University which is also in Cleveland. What an incredible campus! Beautiful setting with nice buildings and layout. Tom seemed impress but made the comment tha he really liked the way Temple was which surprised us. Believe me...Temple is in a rough area and it's set up in an odd way...but there is something about it that makes you feel at home.

Today we watch the team practice and we assume Tom will be a part of that. Should be a nice sunny day so, I'm shutting this down and head to Starbucks to get it started!
