Cottage Cove in the heart of Nashville

The Cottage Cove Board along with our Advisory Board had kind of an emergency meeting last night. Like most non-profits these days, giving is way down and we're trying to figure out what to do to generate funds. It was probably one of the most productive meetings we've had, but at the same time, reality of the need will be weighing us down for awhile.

I've been on the board since the beginning. Cottage Cove started in 1994 and we have seen so much take place over the years. From renting the building to owning it, adding a lot for a big playground, having hundreds of groups from all over the country to experience and learn how to work in inner-city ministry, and meeting many new friends who have volunteered from all around the Nashville area. Of course, the kids that we reach out to have been the most blessing of all. Because we are attached to a project, the kids and families change every few years, but it's amazing to see so many come back to visit when they have a chance. A couple of years ago, our director, Brent MacDonald opened the doors on Sunday and now a community church is growing to involve more families within the community to be a part of Cottage Cove.

Change is good. Challenges are good. It forces us to rely more on God to provide. We have seen the Lord keep the doors of Cottage Cove open for nearly 15 years. That's amazing when you understand that this ministry is run by a few people and not under the umbrella of any large organization or church. We only have a few fund raisers a year...and by the grace of God, we are supported by faithful Believers who give usually, in small amounts every month. And when you experience the work for yourself at Cottage Cove, you realize that this is what life should be about. A community of Believers...living by faith and trusting God to provide for all their needs.

Pray for Cottage Cove. Visit when you have a chance. They welcome all who want to come. Volunteer your time. It's worth it. http://www.cottagecove.org
